Welcome to our Level 1 Silversmithing Classes. No experience required, just some courage to try a new skill. Whether you are creative or not, we encourage you to give our beginners classes a try. We have taught all ages from 16-up, men and women, and people from all backgrounds who bring their own unique skill set. Some of our most interesting students have been architects and dentists, bookmakers, people who have done a lot of beadwork and knitting, as well as people who haven't had much experience with design but end up finding their own style.
Learn to make Silver Jewellery in our purpose made Silversmiths' Guild Workshop. Our experience tutors make learning easy and fun. All tools and initial materials are supplied for your first project, and optional and advice are available for the purchase of further materials. Come along and enjoy meeting other people while learning an ancient and beautiful art form.
The First Level 1 project is a copper brooch. This first brooch will teach you all the basic skills to get you started, including design, sawing, soldering, filing, sanding and riveting. The Second project is a layered ring with a pierced design. This can be made from brass, copper or silver. Please note there will be an extra cost for the purchase of metals.
